I believe that we are born knowing. While living in our mother’s uterus, we learn how a heartbeat sounds and how emotions vibrate on our skin. And when we go out into the world, we already know how to be happy and sad and calm or indignant. From the very first moment, we know how to scream when we are in pain, to smile when we are comfortable, to cry when we feel nostalgic.
If we are lucky, mother comes every time to comfort us, she welcomes our smile and cradles our cry. If we are lucky, mother shows us how to gain confidence in the fact that it is alright to cry, to laugh and to be in pain. And this is how our soul grows up, steady and beautiful. A little every day. Until it feels it has the strength to fly with its own wings and see the whole world, from one corner to the other.
And what if we are not lucky?
If we are not lucky, things happen differently. If we are not lucky to have our mother there when we come into the world, we learn from the beginning about silence, about fear and about oblivion. And all these shadows grow in our soul. A little every day. That is why it is very difficult to see in the soul of a child who has grown up without a mother. But if you really want to and if you have enough time for it, you can become the friend of a lonely child. Beyond the coat of shadows in his soul you can discover a true rainbow that starts from a magical spring and spreads above a hidden treasure.
And if you help him see for himself how many colors there are in his soul, he will again have the courage to cry and to laugh and to be nostalgic.
